The Care of our Veterans

The Care of our Veterans
Monday, June 9, 2014

Twelve years at war takes a toll. Over a decade worth of conflicts on foreign soil have left more than 60,000 physically wounded, 320,000 with traumatic brain injuries, and nearly half a million impacted by invisible wounds like combat stress and post-traumatic stress disorder. In addition, there are untold numbers of brave men and women who have been affected by these wars. They've sacrificed their jobs, health and livelihoods, not in the name of uniformed service, but for the care of the servicemen and women who are no longer able to effectively care for themselves. Today we'll examine the life of the 5.5 million military caregivers providing for the needs of our nation's wounded veterans, and speak with military caregivers from the Hampton Roads community.

Scheduled Guests:

Dr. Anthony Napoleon - Author, Awakening Beauty: An Illustrated Look at Mankind’s Love and Hatred of Beauty

Janine Latus - Author, If I Am Missing or Dead: A Sister's Story of Love, Murder, and Liberation
