Lou Gehrig's Disease
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), most commonly known as 'Lou Gehrig's Disease', is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord eventually leading to loss of voluntary muscle action. The cause of the disease is largely unknown and few treatment options exist for those who are diagnosed with it. Today we'll talk with Bruce Thompson, a Virginia Beach developer whose son Josh was diagnosed with the disease in 2007, Cathy Easter with the ALS Association and Dr. H. Blair Marsteller who is the Director of the Riverside ALS Clinic.
