Waterways: A Terrible Thing to Waste
Don’t let your neighborhood—and our local waterways—go to the dogs! Pet waste left on the ground is a leading cause of pollution in the region’s rivers, streams and bay, so environmental organizations have joined forces with local animal shelters and animal rights organizations to encourage citizens to clean up after their pets. We'll talk with the organizers of this new campaign, and the scientists who are studying the impact pet waste has on our region's waterways.

A Local Analysis of Crime
Students across several disciplines at Old Dominion University are taking a closer look at crime. They're examining national crime statistics, Clery reports and Capstone research projects in an attempt to better
understand the crime occurring in the neighborhoods surrounding ODU. Today we'll talk to the educator at the heart of this effort, Professor Lynn Waltz, about her Public Journalism in a Digital Age course and how her students are learning that there's much more to journalism than just reporting the news.
